Fuel tanks[1] are required to hold fuel, and are therefore essential components to dynamic constructs. Each type of fuel has an associated fuel tank type. Fuel tanks can only hold the fuel of their specific type, and so multiple tanks are necessary for constructs that consume multiple types of fuel (such as constructs with both atmospheric and space engines), or that consume high amounts of fuel. Fuel tanks must be filled manually by the player, but core units automatically connect fuel tanks to the appropriate engines during the construction process. Warp cells do not have a specific container, warp drives should be connected to an item container that has the required warp cells.
Talents affect the behavior of the fuel tank in the following ways
- Mining and Inventory > Stock Control > Fuel Tank Optimization: reduces fuel tank capacity mass by 5% per level.
- Piloting > Atmospheric Flight Technician > Atmospheric Fuel Tank Handling: increases fuel tank volume by 20% per level
- Piloting > Space Flight Technician > Space Fuel Tank Handling: increases fuel tank volume by 20% per level
- Piloting > Rocket Scientist > Rocket Booster Fuel Tank Handling: increases fuel tank volume by 10% per level
