Revision as of 01:58, 15 November 2017

The following is a list of Dual Universe wiki editing guidelines which should be followed at all times, finalized and put into effect on August 31st, 2017. Latest revision was made Sep 20th, 2017.

Pre-Alpha Non-Disclosure Agreement

Dual Universe is currently under a non-disclosure agreement. Therefore, from now until the end of the NDA, all users are strictly prohibited from publishing any information gained from playing Dual Universe. Anyone found adding pre-alpha content to the Wiki prior to the end of the NDA will have their changes and editing privileges removed, and their actions reported to Novaquark staff.

Editing Rules

Rules are mandatory and must be followed when creating, editing, and uploading information and files.

Rule #1: Major Change Restrictions

Any Major Change Must be Discussed with the Community and/or Prior Editors prior to being Submitted.

Definitions

  • Major Changes
    • Any alterations, additions, or deletions to a page that significantly change the meaning of the page,
    • OR Altering or deleting an entire section of a page.
  • Consulting the Community and/or Prior Editors
    • Talk/Discussion Page (preferred)
      • Posting a new topic into the page's talk/discussion sub-page with an overview of the proposed changes,
      • AND waiting at least 3 days before making the changes in question.
    • OR Discord
      • Mentioning or private messaging the prior editors through Discord,
      • AND discussing the proposed changes,
      • AND coming to an agreement of what those changes should look like.

Clarifications

  • This rule is intended to permit any editor to continue to make minor changes, or any change that is not defined as a major change.
  • This rule is intended to limit the ability of editors making significant changes to another editor's work without consultation or debate.

Violations

Violating this rule is considered to be a violation of one's duties as an editor and may result in the following punishments:

  1. Warning
  2. Consultation
  3. Temporary Ban
  4. Permanent Ban

These punishments are intended to be used as follows:

  • A user may be given a punishment more than one time, i.e. a user could be given more than one warning before receiving a consultation.
  • In order at least once per user, i.e. each user gets at least one Warning, Consultation, and Temporary Ban before a Permanent Ban is instituted.
  • At the discretion of the moderators (aka Wiki Guardians) and administrators, i.e. a punishment may not always be warranted for a violation.

Editing Guidelines

Guidelines are optional and are encouraged to be followed when creating, editing, and uploading information and files.

Correct English Grammar

1) All content must be written in clear, grammatically correct English. If a user finds content that does not meet this standard, or is unsure of their ability to write fluent English, pages can be marked for proofreading by adding the following text at the top of the page:

{{cleanup|Page needs to be proofread}}

Quotations

2) No content should be copied and pasted from any source that was not written explicitly for the Dual Universe Gamepedia Wiki.

Exceptions are direct quotations or transcriptions from official Novaquark interviews and Q&As only in pages tagged as "Archive".

Source of Information

3) All information must be accurate and come directly from Novaquark. Speculative or rumored content is not permitted. However, content that has been confirmed, but not finalized, is allowed.

Community Content

4) Community content is not permitted. This includes currently active players, organizations, constructs, locations, and events. For community content, see the Community Wiki.

Categories

5) All pages should be added to at least one category.

Blank Pages

6) All pages should have some content; blank articles are not acceptable.

Documentation

7) All edits must include a summary of what changes were made in the provided summary field.

Notating Pages

Pages can be given certain tags, or notices, which mark them as needing attention. If a user feels that an article needs particular attention, they should locate the appropriate notice and add it to the source text of the article. For a list of notices, see: Notice Templates
